Frequently Asked Questions

How much does therapy cost?

Individual virtual therapy is $160 per 56-58 minute sessions.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We currently accept BCN, BCBS, BCN Premiere Care, and Aetna. If paying out of pocket (cash), payment may be submitted via Venmo, Cash App, and Square.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

Yes. For those with limited means or no insurance, sliding fee scales are available based on what fits your budget. We believe that lack of funds should never be a barrier to accessing mental health services.

Do you have evening appointments?

We understand that people lead busy lives and are constantly juggling work, family, and friends. We don’t want scheduling therapy session to add any additional stress to your life so we offer flexible office hours. We are available Tuesday through Saturday from 10am - 8pm and we offer appointments on Saturdays from 10am-3pm. Sunday and Monday appointments can be scheduled by arrangement.

Is a phone consultation a guarantee that you will be my therapist?

We offer complimentary a 15 minute consultation for those interested in therapy. This consultation allows both of us to get an intuitive feel for whether or not we would be a good fit and whether my skill set and style are a good match for your needs.  If either one of us senses it would be better for you to work with someone else, I am happy to provide you with a referral to another therapist.

What are your areas of specialization?

Each therapist has a unique set of clinical skills and has their own areas of expertise. Please read our team bios to learn more. Ward Psychotherapy works with adults and children seeking therapy for the following:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • self-esteem

  • racial and cultural identity

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Life transitions

  • Work trauma

  • Empty nesters

  • LGBTQIA+

How often will I attend therapy?

This depends upon your needs. We typically encourage clients to schedule weekly sessions for the first month or so. This is the best way to establish rapport, build trust, and make some solid headway in your therapy goals.

What is your cancellation policy?

We respectfully request that clients provide a minimum of 24-hours notice if they need to cancel an appointment. It is standard practice for therapists to charge the full out-of-pocket session amount - at Ward Psychotherapy this is $160 - if a client is a no-show or if they do not give 24 hour notice. The reason for this is because therapists lose income when clients cancel last minute or do not show for appointments. Providing advance notice gives therapists an opportunity to fill that empty slot. Another reason for the missed appointment fee is that absence from therapy can significant slow down a client’s progress toward achieving their goals.

We understand that a $160 missed appointment fee is extremely pricey, we charge $80 for missed appointments and not the full amount. That being said, we also understand that life happens - children get sick, cars break down, etc… - so we will waive the charge when appropriate.
